I definitely recommend it.
I definitely recommend it.
The app is one of go-to news sources.
Whole lot better than the previous version. Still have trouble sometimes finding something I saw a link to on Facebook but would rather open in the app than in my browser (to avoid ads).
Terrible - layout & amount of advertising. Waiting for the next update - hopefully soon. This rating is for the app only not the content and journalism which deserves four stars.
Great app!
Current WP version does not allow access to articles without subscription. Go with the AP or NYT app if you want actual coverage vs. just headlines.
Used to be the best news app out there. Now its just ok. Liked it better and found the layout to be smoother and simpler before the latest update. Too many times developers try to change too much in an attempt to improve the product. There was nothing that needed improvement. Instead of being a unique app the worked with a simple clear layout, its now just one more news app that has lost its graceful simplicity.
Great and useful app. World class news, friendly interface and I actually use it regularly. The iPhone version is not as cool as the iPad app, but it travels better on my iPhone. I do miss the comics though.
Very good headlines!
Works the way expected. Easy to navigate. Alerts connect to stories. My favorite news app for quality of user experience
New app is a big improvement. No longer hangs, and doesnt constantly refresh while you are reading. The ad displays need work. The ads sometimes cover the content and cannot be closed out.
You did an awesome job with the re-do of your app and the appearance of the on-line "paper". Thanks. Tim Mabry
This version of the app works much better than older versions. It loads faster and is more responsive. With this app The Washington Post moves into the same club with The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Its about time!
Navigation much better than the last version of the app, but I still find myself going to the print edition version to actually see the whole paper. Thats a lot of worthless wandering. On the plus side, content damage are fast and usually work.
I love it that the new app works
MISLEADING DESCRIPTION Their description here of the upgrade was that it fixed minor bugs. No mention that it also has a major overhaul of the interface and removes customization. They were grossly misleading! MAJOR PROBLEMS The new version has a host of problems. Here are several of the leading ones. 1. Latest upgrade deletes ALL saved sections! 2. A bottom toolbar is now always present, which undermines the full screen newspaper reading experience. Even worse, there is now an extra bar across the top, above the section bar. This is a major step backwards. It means that the actual reading area has been reduced by nearly 1/4 ! 3. The interface is now jet black, which is drab and off-putting. 4. There is NO access to comments via the app! You have to go to the main website to see them or to comment! 5. One of the biggest problems! Theyve eliminated the readers choice of news sections! You are stuck with what they provide. In the order they decided upon. 6. There is a way of getting to recent sections, but all that does is give you a narrow list of headlines on the right-hand side of the screen. Its completely different from the way the other sections are displayed. Bad design. WILL NOT RENEW IF NOT FIXED! We will NOT be renewing our subscription if these problems, especially the lack of customization, are not fixed! The Post app developers should look closely at the NY Times-- while a slider of sections across the top is better, theyve nailed everything else, including offline reading and smooth scrolling. Bottom line: DO NOT UPGRADE! ----------------------------------- RECOMMENDATION Please bring back the old interface-- or, at least, give us an option to choose it as a preferred theme! ----------------- OTHER MAJOR PROBLEMS Addendum: Discovered the other day that it fails to download many stories; that it hangs, freezing the screen; and now doesnt work that well for offline reading. (It used to be superb!). Truly sad! Addendum 2: Also, discovered that the scrolling through a story has become even more herky-jerky; the screen blinks. Before that part was smooth, it just jumped after a bit! This is the only news app I own that does this! Addendum 3: Weird. They seem to have eliminated the classic app for the iPhone-- and, do not seem to let us reinstall it on the iPad. That one was quite good with pinned sections, customization of favorites, etc.
We are Post fans, a publication loyal to the truth and thus, hold an e subscription. Being able to read the top stories at any time is exciting and engaging. It also makes us feel a part of the ever so interesting national action and closer to our loved ones living in D. C.
I use the Washington post for political coverage and current issues. The writing is indepth and comprehensive.
Logical, easy to use
Come on! Washington DC is the most interesting city in the world, leading the most challenging issues and these days also one of the most vibrant, relevant and (gulp!) hip places on the planet( there I said it). And the app makes all this--- issues, people, places---all look tired and washed out. Im not a graphic designer so I cant say exactly whats wrong or what it needs, I just know the WP can do better. Take you great content and DO something with it!
